Bennekom, The Netherlands – Went to visit my client in Bennekom, the Netherlands, yesterday to check up on their garden. I had designed it last year and now after 1 year of the garden settling in and growing, I went by to check how the garden was doing and whether my client was satisfied…
It looked stunning… and the pond with a gorgeous waterspout called ‘Tusk’ invited me to walk on through the entrance of the tall Bankirai Pergola, covered with Wisteria ‘Sinensis’and various Clematis….
There were however some plants not quite in the right place and the gardner had forgotten to add more Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’s’, in order to divide the terrace from the garden as planned!
As there were lots of weeds covering most of the soil… where in actual fact there should have been plants thriving, I got down on my hands and knees and started to show them how to weed properly! We had great fun and the clients were very happy to potter along and reshuffle some plants… I then made a shopping list for them to go down to the local nursery ….
I am sure they will be having a great gardening weekend, finishing off the last planting and then being able to relax and enjoy.
Apparently there was little colour in spring, so I suggested them to plant bulbs in oktober, november. I will make a list of tulips, bluebells and narcisus etc… for them.
Also managed to get hold of a gardner, who will do the basic weeding and pruning every other week at a good hourly price!
Happy happy clients… I’m happy 2!
Enjoy! and let me know what you think. Or even better if you have any gardening questions or designing issues… do drop me a line and I will answer you to the best of my knowledge!
Sunny greetings, Carolyn
